We're currently experiencing a minor DDoS attack courtesy of a new variant of the phpBB exploit "Sanity" worm. None of the attacks are doing anything but getting rejected by our security measures but the sheer number of requests having to be denied (from thousands of different IP's) is causing server load to increase.
There is little we can do to decrease server load at this point - the very nature of this attack means there is no quick fix.
We have to wait for the people who have had their servers comprimised to patch them and the attacks will only then start to tail off.
