Hello

I'm looking for somewhere permanent to stick my open source software and various odds and sods as it's outgrowing my ISP space, and as I do this for the pure unadulatered love (ie. unpaid) of it I am looking at not splashing out on bandwidth.

As I've never used a hosting company before I was curious about what happens if the bandwidth limit is reached? Obviously, I realise that the site becomes suspended once the limit is reached but then does it come back on-line magically once the month is up? Or is this sort of thing considered bad form?

Not that it's liable to happen -- especially once you've seen the quality of the software -- but I was curious.

Cheers.

Ian,

Thanks for your interest in NetHosted - our server software suspends you when you reach your bandwidth limit, it would then unsuspend you once a new month (and therefore bandwidth allotment) starts.

I look forward to seeing the software!

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Andrew

Thanks for the quick reply Andrew!

That's what I was assuming, I just thought it prudent to check.

So I suppose I'd better crack on and finish off my site rewrite before doing anything else now!

Thanks again.

Andrew,

Can I just check something on this subject? Do you advise in advance that bandwidth use is approaching the limit? And give an opportunity to purchase extra bandwidth prior to suspending?

I am considering hosting here but to be suspended without warning/chance to upgrade would be a definitite no-no!

Thanks

Hi,

You get an initial warning at 80% of usage then multiple warnings after that - plenty of chance to sort out some extra bandwidth!

Hope that helps,

Andrew
