I think this could be a local problem, but perhaps I've not set up something correctly?

Basically, when I send mail from Version 3.2 of Mail on the Mac, and I use a hosted domain "mail.domain.co.uk" ... most of the time I try to send an email it won't let me and asks me to try later as it cannot connect with mail.domain.co.uk.

However, there are other times when it works perfectly. I never had this trouble on a PC. So I am wondering if I either set up the Mac settings incorrectly, or there is some other issue?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

That sounds to me as though its some flakey DNS resolution. I would try using the IP address instead of the hostname and see if you still experience this problem.

Regards,

Darryl

You're welcome, hope that did the trick!

The "better" solution of course would be to use some more reliable DNS servers and use hostnames just incase it updates at any point, but this will have the same result, though bad DNS servers may result in other websites etc. not resolving properly somewhere down the line!

Regards,

Darryl
