I've been getting warnings from my website that I've reached the bandwidth limit over the last few days then around 1am it reached the limit!

How has that happened at such a silly time? I've never been anywhere near my limit is previous months so what's changed this month, does FTP access affect my bandwidth? Does this effect my email? When will it reset?

Thanks,

Well it shouldn't have been a surprise if you were receiving the warnings that you were getting close? The site gets suspended when it runs out of bandwidth, the timing of that is completely dependent on when you run out!

HTTP, FTP, SMTP, and POP3 traffic are all used to calculate your bandwidth usage. Your email will still be delivered.

You can purchase additional bandwidth at £2 per GB per month.

It was a surprise as it happened at 1am! My site never gets this amount of traffic. It's a tiny site. It was also a suprise as the warnings went from 80% to 100% in a matter of minutes. in fact all of the emails until the one at 1am said 80%.

I won't be purchasing any more bandwidth. Thanks for the info though.

I assume it will reset at midnight?

I'd take a look through your stats if I was you, someone might have just vacuumed your site for images or something similar. Bandwidth usage is worked out in the early morning however so this could explain the sudden jump (if the previous day was a heavy bandwidth day).

Yes it will be reset at midnight or a few moments after (the bot has to reset all usage).

Thanks,

Andrew
