Best blogging

I've recently been putting Wordpress through its paces and have been pretty impressed. Set-up was very straightforward (they even had cPanel specific) installation and so far so good.

As a php beginner, can anyone comment on how easy it is to create a theme to match either an existing site or one being developed?

Anyone else care to comment on Worpress and/or use something they believe to be better?

I haven't found anything I like better than WordPress. Some people like Textpattern (http://www.textpattern.com/

) so you might want to check that out.

I managed to create a basic WordPress theme without much knowledge of PHP.

Drupal (http://drupal.org/

) is also good. Although it's more of a Content Management System it can easily be used for blogging. It could be a wise choice if you need lots of flexibility.

I've actually found WordPress to be the best publication system I've seen. Seems to do things better than most fully-fledged CMSs (Nuke and Mambo come to mind).

I've never made a theme for WordPress myself, I use the default one, Kubrick - I like simple. K2 looks nice though.

Creating a Wordpress theme is surprisingly easy. As a PHP beginner myself, the most scary thing is seeing all that weird code, which puts off quite a few people.

If you make a basic layout though, you can just split it up (into header, footer, etc) and paste the WP code into the relevant places. PM me if you want help converting a html layout to a Wordpress theme and I'll try my best to help
