Hi,

I can't access Jupiter or NetHosted and have had to come via a Proxy to post this, however I can access everywhere else on the net just not Jupiter or NetHosted.

Have reboot router and cable modem

Traceroutes look ok

Hi,

Yes this seems to have been the case as we had no problems with the server!

Regards,

Darryl

Garry - can I ask what ISP you are using? Virgin Media by any chance?

Kind regards,
Gary.

Thanks... I've spent the morning on this problem as I live in a predominantly cabled area, so many of my clients weren't able to access their sites.

This is what I found... it may help someone

Cableforum is a great place to go when you're having ISP problems - particularly VirginMedia. This  is the first thread I found, started today - it links onto a more detailed  thread from a couple of weeks ago.

A workaround for web browsing was to set your proxy to:

webcache.virginmedia.com (port 8080)

All sites then became accessible. However this didn't resolve the fact that emails still couldn't be retrieved, so I advised clients to use webmail for the duration of the problem.

It's a very annoying fault as it was clearly a VirginMedia issue but their (non-uk-based, 25p per minute!) first line support were having non of it. Sometimes I wish I could speak with a UK based techie who actually understood the problem and wasn't working from a standard prompt sheet.

Anyhow - hope this helps someone.

UPDATE - customer just contacted me to say emails now back to normal.

Hi,

Thanks for the update, as I'm sure you can imagine this is very frustrating for us too, but unfortunately when the issues are out of our hands there isn't a great deal we can do!

Glad that Virgin have resolved this now though, hopefully they won't break anything again for a while

Regards,

Darryl

Hi,

I was using that proxy as well in Firefox

This issue, is not new unfortunely I have had it before, but it been a while, till it came back today, let hope it doesn't come back for a long time now.

I also found I could not listen to an online radio station I listen to during the day, even with that proxy in place.

I would change, but I am to far away to get ADSL I would get about 256k max at this time, and when I did try to get ADSL via Sky it was never connected.

I have to agree there, I don't bother phoning them now, unless the modem can't connect, however good new it going to be free soon for people how have Virgin Media Phone line and I think 0845 for others, but not sure when
