can't upload files in WordPress

I suddenly can't upload files from within the WordPress post editor; I get this error message:

searching through the WP support forums, the suggestion seems to be it has to do with a php setting, i.e.:

What worked for me was to edit the PHP.INI file and set this parameter
upload_tmp_dir="/tmp"


there are various threads about it, but they all seem to say much the same thing.

I think the php.ini setting may just be a work around. I have tried something else, please can you let me know if you can now upload.

No, I'm afraid not.

It has always worked before, as well, so I don't know why it should suddenly go kaput. I don't *think* I've changed anything at my end.

Can you give me the login details to your wordpress install and an example of where I should navigate to see this error.

Actually, I just tried it and it seems to have started working again — I don't know if it's something you did: if it is, thank you! In fact, even if it wasn't something you did, I appreciate how responsive you are to support questions, so thanks for that too.
