I think both versions were very good. I have a theory that 90% of cover versions are worse than the original, just look at most songs by Westlife and Girls Aloud.

The one that springs to mind for me is "It's My Life" by No Doubt - originally by Talk Talk.

No Doubt managed to bring it up to date and give it a retro feel at the same time. I think their version is excellent.

Norman Greenbaum - not exactly the sort of name you immediately remember - 1969.

Wannabe - Zebrahead
Jump Around - Limp Bizkit (not on any albums though)
Faith - Limp Bizkit (that one's great)
9 teen 90 nine (something like that) - Limp Bizkit
Along Comes Mary - Bloodhound Gang
Kick Out The Jams, Maggie's Farm, How I Could Just Kill A Man, Renegades of Funk, basically the entire album called Renegades - Rage Against The Machine
The Offspring - Why Don't You Get a Job (I think it counts)

Yeah, I love Limp Bizkit's version of Faith. I prefer the original Jump Around though.

Just remembered another one:

Sparks vs Faith No More - This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us

Originally by Sparks. Justin Hawkins from The Darkness covered it recently which is what reminded me of it. His version doesn't come close to the FNM version, or the original for that matter.
