Email Hosting Plans

Hi,

Just a quick question regarding Email hosting plans. I currently have the Xtreme Plan and am looking at moving my email from exchange accounts to IMAP. I need roughly just under a Gb per mail box so thought I would just take the email pro plan at £20 a year as it is a massive saving over 1 & 1 exchange. (bout £150 a year)

Ok so my question is can I point the MX records on domains on my web hosting plan to an email hosting plan?? I am also looking at transfering my domains into the control of Nethosted from 1 & 1 they are mostly.co.uk's and 1 .com how much is it to transfer the domains?

Gareth,

You can point the MX to an email hosting plan.

How much .uk transfers cost depends on how long the domain has left before expiry. Greater than 90 days then the cost is £5, less than or equal to 90 days and the cost is £15 but this includes an extension on the domains' life by two years. .com transfers are £10, including a one year extension.

Many thanks for the reply, Do I just place the order as normal, I take it I get a new username and password to access the email plan?

Also how do I start the domain transfer and what control do I get over the domain names - DNS/MX etc?

Yes, if you go ahead and place the order as normal - we'll email you a welcome email upon receipt of payment!

If you list the domains you would like to be transferred when you order we will generate an inoice for these transfers for you. You will need to update the IPStag of the .uk domains to NETHOSTED and you will need to unlock your .com domain and let us know the transfer authorisation code.

Cheers Andrew,

Just a quick question I am going through the order process and it is asking for a domain name, I don't want to use any of my current domains.

Should I create a new one or just enter any domain in this box??

Also once the domains are with you can I change DNS/MX records etc as I can with 1 & 1?

Gareth,

You should put a domain name you are going to use, as that will be the root of your account.

Yes you can update these details.

Ok, small problem - you've signed up with a domain name we already host, so we can't setup your account currently. To setup the account, we'll have to remove the DNS Zones for your domain. If this will cause disruption to your email service as is let me know.

I can probably remove them temporarily just to setup the account then replace them once again.
