Hi,

seem to be having random problems with email on my account, iantomey.com. I've had a number of emails just not appear over the previous months, from all sorts of senders including flickr and large corporates. And they have not been turning up in the spam folder either.

Any ideas?

Ian

Ian,

Sometimes mail gets queued but if the server then takes more than 7 days to get to your queued mail it gets deleted. This however should be a very rare occurrence due to say a spammer taking hold and filling the mail queue with thousands of junk messages so I'm not sure it could account for what you describe. Is there any pattern to what mail goes missing (either who it is from or where it was too)?

Andrew

nope, it all seems pretty random to me. I though of a filled mailbox, but surely everything would stop working at that point, no just loosing the odd mail?

If your account/mailbox is full mail gets queued yes. I guess if you were to then remove a file from your account and/or download a large mail some mail might get through only for your account to quickly fill up once again.

Phunky,

This could be the problem, the only mail I can see on the queue for your domain is to claire. That can't be delivered because her mailbox is full.

You might want to clear some of your spam box too! That's a lot of spam...

I've deleted the two email addresses from your above post, you already get enough spam methinks

I can confirm that only the above addresses will receive mail, all other address@phunky will get rejected.

Sorry to bring back an old topic, but I seem to be having a similar problem with certain emails not arriving. Weirdly, it seems to be mostly order confirmation ones from shopping sites that aren't coming through, for example cd-wow.com, threadless.com and cookware.co.uk. Cookware have apparently sent a few emails about order status in the last couple days and I've not seen one of them!

Newsletter emails from the same companies seem to come through fine...

I've got spamassassin enabled and told to add "SPAM-" to the subject for spam mail, and I've also added a filter as follows:
Code:
$header_to: begins "sales"
set to discard the mail as I kept getting spam addressed to sales@ .

I'm not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to email but if someone could take a look into it it'd be much appreciated!

Hi,

I took cdwow as the example here, all the logs we have show only newsletters and offer emails - and there are no errors reported there.

Can you give me an example of when you expected an email to arrive that didn't, what email address it was sent to on your account, who it was from and at what time and date you expected it to arrive.

Feel free to PM or send in a ticket to post this sensitive information.

Thanks,

Andrew
