Hello All,
I'm using MySQL control center to maintain a database on my localhost.

I would like to try to use it to connect to my NetHosted MySQL database, instead to using the MySQL panel in the cPanel
my localhost settings are:
Name: root@localhost:3306
Host Name: localhost
User Name: root
Password:
Port: 3306

I am wondering what the settings will be for my NetHosted?

Name: username@website:????
Host Name: ???? if my website is called www.website.com  what do i put?
User Name: username I have created in cPanel, MySQL
Password: password I have created for username in cPanel, MySQL
Port: ???? i don't know what to use

Here's the link to the free software from MySQL:
http://www.mysql.com/products/mysqlcc/

Thanks

Carlos

PostPosted: Wed Oct 20, 2004 2:37 pm    Post subject: these are the only instructions i could find

Setup instructions for the MySQL Contol Center Tool.

1) Open up the MySQL Tool.
2) Click on the file menu and then new.
3) For name place whatever name that you would like to use for the connection.
4) For host name place the IP address of the MySQL server.
5) For username place your username for the MySQL database for this connection.
6) For password enter the password for your MySQL database.
7) Click Add.

You are now ready to administer your MySQL database.

Make sure your account is set up for remote access. Your hosting company should be able to help you with that. Then enter your domain name or your IP address for the server and your user name and password for the database.

Why I cannot connect to my MySQL server?
The reasons for not connecting to your MySQL server successfully may involve few aspects. We would suggest you to check the following issues:
1. Do you have the correct hostname of your MySQL server?
2. Are you using the correct TCP/IP port number when trying to connect to the mysqld server? (the default port number for mysql is 3306)
3. Are you behind any firewall that blocks the port number?
4. Is your public IP address of your desktop PC changed by your ISP recently?
We would like to remind you that after MySQL server is installed, it would only allow "localhost" connection by default. Any client PCs will be blocked by the remote MySQL server until the user privileges has been configured.
If you are using MySQL server provided by hosting company, most of the hosting companies will block access to the MySQL server from outside the hosting company's network, and only grant access to users connecting from localhost. For this case, you will need to configure SSH Tunnel Connection to solve the problem.

that's all i could find on the subject.

These settings should work Carlos:

Name: anything?
Host Name: vfx101.com
User Name: username I have created in cPanel, MySQL - yes
Password: password I have created for username in cPanel, MySQL
Port: 3306

You must log into cPanel and add your IP address to the allowed hosts list in MySQL manager.

Andrew
