Used to be £50 when google was less popular. The best slots are expensive though. I have heard tales of over £1 per click. Ouch.

Not sure if I'm allowed to say this, we're paying well over double what you just quoted rhinoian... 
Not even working as far as I can see, unless people are just lazy and don't select the right option from the "How did you find us" box on our order form (very likely...)

I think you have to be careful with advertising as to what you get back. I paid £350 ish for a year on yell.com and <legal mode> I'm sure they do a lovely job</legalmode> but I only got 2 enquiries and no business. An expensive waste of time.
Local papers don't work for me either unless there is an animal related supplement and I can't afford £1 per click let alone more unless they convert into paying customers.
No wonder Google and making a LARGE fortune. 
PS I wont click on your google link just for the hell of it then!
PPS Of course, it doesn't really cost Google anything to put on an offer for adwords like this. With the huge numbers they get to pay for the infrastructure, this advertising is almost free (to google) |

Yeah, I've got to look into more UK tech sites and get some banner ads going that's the way forwards.

We pay a fortune for it and overture, looking in the 1000's a month :S but it does bring us in a lot of leads

If you wish to create a smallish logo, I'm happy to put it on the bootom of my main web page and message forum.
I don't do banner adverts, but a smallish logo would not look out of place.
