Hi all/Andrew

Is it possible to set up an FTP login which doesn't have an "@" in the username? The FTP locations functionality in MS Office seems to get its knickers in a twist over this.

I can set up a complete new account using WHM (well I have!) but then of course it has access to the whole account instead of just a directory ...

Hi,

No there is no way around this that I can see - your best bet is to use a whole new account.

OK then, is it possible to make a subdirectory the default FTP directory of the account? Though if a user visits .. then all the other stuff is still visible ...

Or maybe I just delete *everything* in the /home/username directory ...??!!

Ahhh but then I also want access via web browser/password using the password protected directories thingy. Hmmm not so straightforward.

I was hoping you (Andrew) might be able to set up an ftp user by hand to get round the ftp username having the "@" in it.

Cheers

Giles

Andrew,

The phrase "beyond the call of duty" comes to mind

Giles,

I'm pleased to say I think I've cracked it... try logging in to your domain name with the user: yourcpanelusername2 (and the same pass as for yourcpanelusername). It currently takes you to: /home/yourcpanelusername - let me know if you want it to go elsewhere.

Thanks for the kind words over in the testimonials section

Andrew

Andrew,

Many thanks for sorting this out so efficiently and helpfully as ever. Just what I wanted. Now have password protected access over FTP and HTTP.
