Unfortunately, I think most systems wil have weaknesses that can be exploited, just look at XP, Word & IE
Keeping upto date with the latest version, making sure file permissions are as tight as possible, password protecting with a strong password the admin files and regular checking of the site are about as good as you can get. _________________ Hard to find and premium pet products at Pennine Vets |

Speaking from experience of mopping up issues keep clear of PHP-Nuke and Mambo.
I can't comment on why these two are the biggest causes of headaches. It could be due to bad coding, it could be due to them being attractive targets as they are very popular etc

Can't comment on it's security other than the fact that my site hasn't been hacked (went live Nov 05) and that the developers seem keen on keeping it secure, but I'm very happy with Drupal (http://drupal.org ).

It seems like using mod_rewrite is a good way to secure sites, too (and a feature of Drupal if I'm not mistaken).
I manage to keep my sites relatively secure by coding them myself... Ofcourse that only means that I can protect them from threats that I know about myself. |

As long as you don't forget what gates you have placed to protect yourself ...
Me - I even forget where I hide £10 for emergencies ....
Seriously though, sometimes these problems can really dishearten you - I came to Nethosted because my old ISP kept having problems with cgi (with no backups whatsoever) ... then I installed Mambo and then lost it
I'll have a look at mod_rewrite ... eventually once I get that energy to look at the whole of my site again
