Hotmail problem

hello all

when trying to open any attachment in hotmail the following error appears:
"filename could not be scanned for viruses due to an internal error".

here's where the problem occurs.....i have 2 hotmail accounts. i can send the same file from account a to b and from a to a and the attachment can be downloaded and viewed fine. however sending from account b to a or b to b or b to any email (ie non hotmail) results in the attachment being corrupted in some way so the internal hotmail virus program, which is trend micro, rejects it.

using outlook to download the mail doesn't cure the problem. it's not the pc as all the above was done on the same pc, it's virus and spyware etc free and is in fine fettle. it occurs with most attachments but particularly word docs. these docs are again virus free and can contain just text.

this leads me to the conclusion that the server hosting account b (a newer .co.uk address) is at fault. i've googled forever and mailed microsoft (i won't hold out for a response) and the only glimer of hope is that there maybe a problem with the recently updated windows live mail. is anyone else having this problem or have any ideas?

Sorry, no idea to be honest. Have you tried putting the attachment in a zip archive (or maybe something a bit more obscure

)?
