Nearing the end of its hosting period with Fasthosts (spit) I've just transferred this across to Nethosted's servers and it now proudly sits on Uranus  (will we ever tire of Uranus jokes?)
The site: http://www.johntoscano.co.uk/  was my first ever attempt at a web site, back in Autumn 2004. It's pretty basic, but I did it all by hand using xhtml & css. I'm working on another site at the mo (and hopefully another one soon) so I'll share those here too. |

For a first attempt it's very good really, sticking to standards, clean lines - no marquee text that sort of thing 
How did you come to design it?

Having had a short-term contract end on me, I was at a loss as to what to do with my life. I thought about what interested me (and what I could realistically make a career out of) and IT and specifically the web was where I wanted to go, though I had no formal experience nor qualifications. I then set about doing a CIW during 2004.
Coincidentally, a friend of mine had also been at a crossroads and did his course as I was doing mine. He needed a site and I did that for him in Autumn 2004 just in time for him starting up his business. I've since managed to get that oh-so-difficult leg-on-the-ladder job and am now keen as mustard to up the ante and get some more complicated sites under my belt.
So there you have it; a short history of my (recent) life! |
