I was looking at CMS progs that Fantastico installs and ended up at the CMS Matrix site comparing them all. Has anyone got a CMS installed and using it, are they easy to use for novices. One i was looking at that Fantastico doesn't install was e107 anyone ever used this one. Thanks for the advice in advance

I personaly use Drupal its fairly simple to use from my perspective mods are easily installed and the admin side of things isnt "in your face" complicated as it is with postnuke and clones.

The times I dont need anything that advanced I write my own.

I think e107 is generally considered "the best" at the moment...

Oh .... its been a while since you posted last in this thread Barry.

Have you installed any of the CMS programmes - and your findings?

I was thinking of using Mambo - it has a lot of the things I would like. Don't know how it would integrate with my current forum (Yabb 1.3.2 - still with my ISP for a while)

But am looking forward to trying it out ... (I am looking at a steep learning curve!)

Hmmmm i always would take a look at your actual needs from the CMS, as you never really get what you need from any of them from the get go.

I personaly use WordPress for everything, even clients sites and just build custom plugins for anything extra i need.

www.phunky.co.uk
www.mem-gaming.co.uk
www.jamesjakes.com

are just some of the sites running 100% from WordPress 1.5

Unfortunately I lack the experience/knowledge of how to build custom plugin ... so respect!

However, when you design a site Phunky, do you build with a particular size of monitor in mind? I have a couple of reasons for asking, I looked at your jamesjakes site and could not really see or get at the menu item under Donnington (I use FireFox).

I have taken the plunge and gone for Mamba - I had already done a comparison of various CMS packages and fell for Mamba everytime - (thank you Net Hosted for the fantastico software) ...

I'm have a problem with sizing - using IE and 800x600 results in a bottom scrollbar ... but it looks great with FireFox ..
