I have just received the following email from Manchester Uni, sent to an address that is very old and normally only receives spam and from an address we didn't recognise:
| Code: | Subject: a [000056A8]
The attached document contains important financial information. |
That was it apart from an attached pdf. As you all probably know, pdfs can contain viruses so we were very very careful about opening it as the whole email just shouted virus at us.
It turns out it was valid and the pdf contained notification that they had paid us.
Couldn't believe that they would send out something so unprofessional though. |

I'm amazed it didn't get junked by your filters! That really does look dodgy 
Have you let them know what you think of their email templates?

Oh yes  (and copied the email to their head of purchasing)
It will be interesting to see if I get any sort of reply.

No reply at all from them.
(however, it turns out that the bits we had sent them for this order didn't meet our published spec as our supplier had changed it without telling us so I don't want to rock the boat any more at the moment.  )
If they do send another email which is similar then I think I will return it (copied to suitable addresses I can find at Manchester University) and ask for them to confirm that it is from them and doesn't contain a virus. That may then get a reaction. |

I see. I guess it's wise not to pursue something like this when they might be a bit unhappy with you regarding a purchase!
