I'm using Access 97 and an ODBC connection to view the data in my database. While I am merrily querying away after a short time I get a message error 2006 'mysql server has gone away'. I re-start my frontend and everything is fine again. Nuisance.

I guess there is a timeout in effect somewhere - I have found a setting in the Access options for an ODBC refresh interval but I don't know if my setting makes any difference.

Anybody seen this and has an idea what is going on and what the correct action on my part is?

These are the relevant settings the MySQL server has:

interactive_timeout=100
wait_timeout=100
connect_timeout=10
