Having problems connecting to pluto via POP3. HTTP is fine.

Seems to work occasionally but mainly times out.

Hmmm....

telnet 92.48.84.98 110 fails (Pluto)
telnet mail.thebat.biz 110 works (Jupiter???)
telnet mail.eclipse.co.uk 110 works (old isp)
telnet mail.newnet.co.uk 110 works (new isp)
telnet mail.pudontour.co.uk 110 fails (Pluto)

Has our IP been blocked or something similar? (Our IP is xx.xx.86.225)

Your IP was placed in a temporary block by cPanel's ratelimiting tool. I believe a restart of exim should fix this block. Can you let me know if you can now connect.

Thanks,

Andrew

Still can't connect here. We have three computers all accessing from the same IP. Total number of requests was 1.5 per minute though it is possible that multiple ones could come quicker. People can also repeatedly press send and receive which would increase this. I've dropped the automatic rate to 0.7 per minute which will hopefully help.

Hi,

I can't see why this is happening. Can you try resetting your router for me to rule this out.

Andrew

If one of our machines has caught a bug, it maybe that the malware is using the settings from outlook to send emails. Are you getting lots of hits from our IP? (The machines should be clean but you never know...)

Hi,

No we're not received a lot of emails from your IP. I honestly can't see a reason server side why this is happening.

Thanks,

Andrew

It's all working again here now. Did you do anything clever or did it just sort itself out?

(Thanks for you help by the way )
