Apple just released Safari 3 Public Beta for OS X and Windows. Now I have a new toy to play with

Tried it already and I'm very unimpressed - incredibly slow loading and the menu didn't load properly.

Yeah, it's slow to load for me as well and the interface is slow, but web pages seem to render fairly quickly. I'm not having any problems like yours - everything is working as it should.
It's interesting to see the Apple/OS X style font rendering being used. Not sure if it would look better on a Mac but it seems poor quality compared to ClearType. |

Firstly, let me say I would've commented on this yesterday evening if I hadn't have been trying my best to avoid all keynote related news and wait for the stream to be available! I've always espoused Safari (or in reality Webkit nightly builds) as the fastest rendering browser. I think I even made a video of it rendering sites! Time to try the beta of v3 methinks. Luckily for me I'll be running it on a OS X so I wont experience the same problems boughtonp seems to be having (I hope!).
Andrew
p.s. isn't iTunes on Windows considered a bit of a dog? Steve mentioned it when saying they had great ability to port OS X apps. _________________ | Andrew Bassett

Disclaimer: opinions!
Apple stuff has never ran very well on Windows for me. Plus, I think the OS X interface, which looks great on OS X, looks very ugly and out of place on Windows. Pity.
I'm not fond of Safari on Windows. The only benefit for me is that I no longer need to use browsercamp to check if sites I make look okay with WebKit browsers.
