Andrew,
Have been getting a few of these emails - I have a good idea why - but I am wondering if there is a way to tell the server "mail delivery software" to just give up on trying to deliver it ?
I put up a Yabb BB - and am getting a few (bogus) registrations - so I could use a way of stopping the auto registration email going out - as far as I know - none have actually been delivered yet - but...
Another quick question - what software is it you are using for this HTML editor (the one I am posting this message in ?
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
A message that you sent has not yet been delivered to one or more of its
recipients after more than 72 hours on the queue on saturn.solardns.com.
The message identifier is: **************
The subject of the message is: Welcome to ***********
The date of the message is: Mon, 16 Jul 2007 17:50:40 +0100
The address to which the message has not yet been delivered is:
*****************
Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:***************
host gsmtp163.google.com [64.233.163.27]: 450-4.2.1 The Gmail user you are trying to contact is receiving
450-4.2.1 mail at a rate that prevents additional messages from
450-4.2.1 being delivered. Please resend your message at a later
450-4.2.1 time; if the user is able to receive mail at that time,
450 4.2.1 your message will be delivered. 7si9261025nzn
No action is required on your part. Delivery attempts will continue for
some time, and this warning may be repeated at intervals if the message
remains undelivered. Eventually the mail delivery software will give up,
and when that happens, the message will be returned to you. |

Hi,
There is a way to tell it to give up but it requires manual action for each message you want to give up so it isn't a practical solution.
Our forum software is a modified version of phpBB 2.x.
Thanks,

Just have to live with it then
As long as it doesn't increase - it's no problem - if the bogus regn's suddenly started to increase - it would be a bit of a pain in the you know what

Reason I asked was that the HTML editor works ok - which is unusual for me....
Will explain - I use Opera Browser - and have been building a Zen Cart - which has a HTML editor built in - but does not work with Opera.
I will now go and do a bit of research on PHPBB - will be interesting to find out which HTML editor it uses - if it's not actually written in to it. |

I believe it's a custom HTML editor written by the phpBB folks. Most other HTML editors used by scripts are likely to be TinyMCE which last time I checked (many moons ago) did have problems with Opera.

I feared as much - it's a pity it couldn't be used with some of the other scripts - as FCKEditor & HTMLArea - (and probably TinyMCE) do have problems with Opera - slight inconvenience - I just have to do a bit more cutting and pasting from an external editor - would be simpler to be able to edit the simple stuff "in place"
Ah well back to the drawing board |

Well hopefully Kestrel will bring some HTML editor fixes as well as many other improvements. I'm particularly looking forward to the Mac speed increases.
