Maybe a silly/beginners question

If the servers are in the US, does this mean UK users will get slower responses, compared to if they were in the UK?

I want to have a family web site, many of whom are on dial-up access, hence, I don't want to add delays to their use.

Not a silly question, yes a slight response delay. We're talking less than 100 milli seconds more in the response time compared to a UK server, the difference being all but neglible to the end user. Do you notice any delays loading this site (nethosted.co.uk)? It is hosted in America

Indeed, the US has a real monopoly on the worlds servers

Glad to hear you're tempted, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask

Sorry to bring this old topic back up.

nethosted.co.uk as far as i can tell is hosted in the UK? One of the main reasons i will be using nethosted is cause there servers are in the uk. Are there plans to move sites to US servers?

Thanks

Sean

Our old server was in the U.S. all new servers will be in the U.K. and your site will always be on a U.K. server.

Sean why not become a member of the Community!

Totally based on server load - we're a multiple domain specialist which means many people park additional domains even if those domains have zero traffic so the domain generate no load.

Also Pluto is a Dual Opteron with 2GB of RAM it is able to cope with a lot of sites while load stays low.
