Hi
I found your site from a recommendation on THE adslguide/thinkbroad.com forums. I'm in the process of trying to find out how to set up a website for a (probably) soon-to-be published novelist.
I have a name in mind for a .com & .co.uk website, but I have no website designed and nowhere to host it. I have a very wide-ranging question - where do I start?

Hi,
Firstly I'd check the availability of the domains you wish to purchase via a whois service such as http://dotlookup.com/  as long as this says that there is no match then the domain will be available to purchase.
With our service we supply you with a control panel which is easy to use, this includes an option called Fantastico which would allow you to install a variety of different software for creating your website. There are various content management systems that it could install for you that you may wish to look into, Joomla, Drupal and PHP-Nuke to name a few. This can also install software like forums and mailing lists for you!
Starting your first website can be daunting and there is definitely a lot to learn, we'll help you as much as we can, feel free to ask any questions on here and I'll do my best to answer you

They were available last time I looked a couple of days ago.

Sorry don't understand that - I'm not totally computer illierate, many moons ago I did some html & xml, and played about with NetFusion, but I'm very out of date! How does Fantastico work - do you have a link?

Great names, but I've no idea what they're for! (atm) I think the other thing I had in mind was a 'wordpress'-style blog (only I've never done one of them before either!). Can they be hosted by you as well?
If I took out one of your packages - maybe the adsl/special offer you have, what would show on the site until I created a website? How do I buy the two domain names?

Hi,
Ah fair enough, well Fantastico is just an automated installer for various different site applications, its just makes the install process simpler and quicker. It does support Wordpress as well, allowing you to install this with just a few clicks.
If you ordered through us then the site would just show a placeholder page until you had set up a site. You can specify a domain when you order and add an additional domain to your cart, either that or we can set up the second domain subsequent to your order.
