This is the first specific web-hosting company that I've used, and I'm seriously happy I chose to move.

Prior to coming here, I only really used free webhosting companies and companies that gave you webspace as part of their "use us as your ISP and you can have a bit of webspace thrown into the package too" option.

I'm sorry, but I'm in rant mode at the moment. If I'm not allowed to list previous bad experiences or name other companies, then please ignore the next section, or edit the section below if you have the power.

The main reason I moved was that I was growing extremely tired of PlusNets progressively bad performance. They have 2 seperate webservers for CGI and HTML content, so you can't directly link from one to the other. They had excessive downtime, but oddly their webstats and Service Status pages never reflected it. And just last week, they accidentally deleted ALL the data from their CGI server, meaning that every PlusNet customers website disappeared, (take a look - http://cgi.toonlist.plus.com  ) because they forgot to make backups before attempting to upgrade their hardware. Genius.

Anyway, for £2.50 a month, I know that my site is always accessible, backed up regularly, I have access to possibly the fastest Customer Care department on earth, (roughly 5 minutes as opposed to PlusNets "we are aiming to answer your email within 9 hours, and even then, you can't be sure that the person answering your email is actually qualified in that area,")

Sorry to go on, but I emailed PlusNet asking why I couldn't get my WAP site up and running on their servers. I created all the code, uploaded it, but no mobile could access it - one of the fundamental reasons for having a WAP site. I got a reply along the lines of "I believe a WAP site is written in a code called WML - this site may be of hlep......" Hlep? They also said a few networks were not correctly configured to access PlusNets servers, so any lack of connection lies with the network provider. I asked friends and family to try to access PlusNet on their mobiles, and none of the 7 mobiles I tried worked.

I asked Andrew on here a WAP question - "Can I host a WAP site here" You know what he said? "I don't see why not" And whats more, he's right, and it worked first time.

WAP site on NetHosted - wap.toonlist.co.uk

Websites on Nethosted - www.toonlist.co.uk

And look! BOTH WORK!

I think I've finished ranting now.

Honestly, NetHosted is a dream to use compared to my previous host.

Will,

Nokia did a BIG handbook available by their website a few years back so I would suggest the mobile phone manufacturers would be a good start. Nokia also did a SDK that may help.

To be honest, initially I downloaded a WYSIWYG WML editor, dragged and dropped stuff around, and spent hours flicking between the main screen and the code.

If it's just a ringtone/pics/java games site, there are a few good pre-made scripts out there where you can just FTP content into directories, like the one on wap.toonlist.co.uk.

If you want a copy of the one I use, it's called WapBuddy, and it's Right Here!
