Not only happy to add my own testimonial, I really really want to! If this forum wasn't here, I'd have had to invent one!

We're an active kinship playing an MMO, Lord Of The Rings Online. If I tell you we're calld 'The Elders', that'll give you a clue! 75 active members aged from 25yrs to 76yrs, most of us between 35yrs and 55yrs!

We had a website that worked well, but it was hosted by an ex-member who'd left the game. He carried on hosting it but didn't seem to want to respond to contact. We had many problems, the biggest of which was we couldn't stop spambots signing up as we had no access rights to change anything at all. We needed a new website!

Someone, somewhere told us about Streamline - perhaps an old customer, as I understand they used to be quite good. A month ago we handed over our money. Cue the start of weeks of stress, misery and hassle. Their support didn't support, our website simply wasn't working properly and all we could get from them were cut'n'paste responses. Hours and hours were spent on the website from the suspicion that we must have got something wrong. Eventually we were able to be quite quite sure that it was Streamline's SQL servers that were the problem. Streamline's response was a shrugging of shoulders and the usual cut'n'paste "An engineer is looking into it" (that guy, I think, fell into a coma some time ago). Meanwhile, people were beginning not to use the website, people were approaching me in-game and saying "I wanted to sign up but your website isn't working". Every other click produced a blank page in response. People would make posts, only to see the system eat them and gradually people stopped making posts.

Eventually, we knew we had to bite the bullet. Ironically, the other name I'd been told was Nethosted and on Sunday afternoon I wound up on these forums. Posted a plaintive message outlining our needs and problems. And got a response in about 15 mins! Since then we've asked a shocking number of questions - and always got a cheerful, helpful, human response within a few minutes. Yesterday, I handed over my credit card and bought a new package. I had to do things that were all mysterious to me (not being any kind of web expert), like changing registrar on the domain, and stuff like that. Cue another endless round of questions, every one responded to in minutes with unfailing patience and kindness.

The guy who does the website stuff contacted me less than an hour later to say the site was uploading at great speed and everything was looking good and suggested I go ahead and get the domain name pointed at the new site. About 30 mins after that he contacted me to say the site was up and running and *everything* was now working (some things had never worked properly with Streamline). Sure enough, via Nethosted, I began to get admin messages which I'd never received when we were with Streamline. He was positively ecstatic, having spent *so* many hours struggling with the site for a month.

Around 4 hours after we bought the package, everything was up and running and members were beginning to turn up on the new site as the domain change propagated.

And literally everything is working properly. The site is so fast I can hardly believe it. ALL our small, niggly problems have vanished as well as the big ones (site failure, blank pages). Everything is wonderful and I am SO happy!

So I want to praise Nethosted to the skies. These people are amazing. If you're reading this wondering whether to choose Nethosted, then don't hesitate. My only other experience is 1&1 - now don't get me wrong, they're incredibly reliable (and incredibly expensive). But I've never had that human, helpful response that I've had in spades already from Nethosted. So if you want to feel like you matter, to feel like someone is interested in your problems and - very quickly - to feel like you're part of a community, then go Nethosted!

Ahh, you are not quite right there. Andrew (Artificial Neural Device Running Every Website) is actually a cyborg that never sleeps. It duplicated itself recently to produce Darryl (Duplicate Andrew Rebooting Runaway Youthful Lifeforms)

We expect them to take over the world shortly....

Anyway, I've known Andrew to take 20 minutes or more to fix minor problems (disk crashes, power outages etc).

Dunno what Andrew is like in real life, but I found some info on Darryl

It appears you know a little too much.

I'm going to have to go more underground I think!
