I've just transferred my domain to NetHosted, and I'm trying to access my webmail from behind a firewall.

I'm trying to connect to:

http://webmail.hollandfamily.org.uk

The login screen appears, but if I enter the correct details, the screen just refreshes, and it displays the login prompt again. If I enter incorrect details, it does say "login attempt fails". similar thing happens if I try to connect to http://cpanel.hollandfamily.org.uk

The same thing happens if I use Firefox or IE.

can anyone help please?

thanks,

Nick

Nick,

Are you unable to access webmail via https://venus.solardns.com:2096/ ?

Regards,

Darryl

no, our firewall won't allow it (and there's no chance of changing it!)

a little bit more I've just found out. I've managed to find another server that is only available for a couple of days, but this server can connect via port 2096 (different, less restrictive firewall). However, it still has the same problem when trying to connect via the address I gave in post 1.

hope this helps - could it be a browser issue?

In this case it isn't a browser issue, we've made some changes to our server setup for our latest server which means that access via this webmail subdomain will not work. We do need a way around this though for people who are in your situation, I'll look into this for you but it's unlikely I will have a solution before this afternoon.

I will update this later today with our progress and hopefully a solution for you, I hope that is OK.

Regards,

Darryl

Hi,

We have the same problem of being unable to access the webmail due to a restrictive firewall. Can you tell us what we need to do to get around this. (we have requested a change to the firewall settings but it seems it may be a blood from stone issue.)

We cannot reach https://venus.solardns.com:2096/

Robin

Hi,

We can't get to webmail.ourdomain.com at all as nethosted does not host our domain, only our email and the directory does not exist.

Is there an alternative way to get to webmail that does not require the use of port 2096?

Thanks

Hi,

Are you able to create the A record/subdomain necessary to point webmail.yourdomain.com at our IP?

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi,

Yes, I think that should be possible. I get 213.229.78.29 for venus.solardns.com, is that what I should point the A record to?

Thanks
